JON ZAHOUREK was born in Oklahoma. He dropped out of college to become a painter and sculptor in the 1960s, making his way to the Taos, New Mexco area and later Denver, joining a community of artists working cooperatively rather than competitively. Zahourek moved to New York in the late ’70s to teach painting. He continued as an educator, eventually developing a system for teaching anatomy — a system that is now used by over 6,000 classrooms across the United States.
